Immigration

As the Immigration Committee of CSPL, our mission is to invest in leadership of immigrants and their allies in seeking justice for immigrant communities in Chicago. We embrace the principles of non-violent direct action to confront unfair and arbitrary enforcement of laws; to promote justice for all people in our communities; and to serve with faith and love to those who are marginalized. We welcome people of all faith traditions to our fellowship.

We do this through focusing on the following areas:

  • Organizing – Investing in grassroots leadership and building community power to effect social change.
  • Rapid Response – A committee of leaders that are committed and trained to mobilize at moments notice to protect undocumented members of our community through non-violent protest and civil disobedience when they are confronted by ICE agents who are threatening to detain them.
  • Education – Provide trainings and opportunities to learn about immigrant legal rights and legislative and political updates.
  • Accompaniment – Citizens accompany immigrants to fully participate in and navigate community and public institutions within vulnerable contexts (courts, police departments, etc.)
