ABC7 & Fox 32 - Catholic faith leaders demand access to Broadview ICE facility for Christmas
On Friday, December 19, CSPL gathered outside the ICE Field Office in downtown Chicago for a Press Conference, where we sang, prayed, and made statements affirming the dignity of immigrants and their right to receive pastoral care while being unjustly detained. We delivered a letter to Field Office Director Sam Olsen, once again requesting access to Broadview Detention Center to bring pastoral care and Communion to the people being held there.

On November 1, 2025, more than 2,000 faithful gathered outside the Broadview Detention Center, to pray, sing and for a second time, demand access for clergy to bring Communion to the people being detained inside. Chicago Auxiliary Bishop José María Garcia-Maldonado and Mercy Sister JoAnn Persch led the delegation. Despite following all procedures as outlined by DHS and ICE, the delegation was once again denied access.
