Social Discernment
Social discernment is a process done in a group, to align difficult decisions we must make with the will of the Spirit to the best of our abilities, to nurture a sense of togetherness and solidarity on a matter before, during and after a collective decision is made, and to create a process where multiple voices and perspectives are heard, examined and discussed, so that the decision is made within the context of seeing the whole picture.
This is an essential tool of relationship-building and community organizing, which in a faith context allows us to practice Discernment of Spirits—and experience its benefits—collectively.
